Kia India has officially revealed the Carens Clavis EV, their first mass-market electric vehicle in the country.

The all-electric seven-seater MPV is set to launch on 15 July, marking a significant milestone for the brand.

In its segment, the Clavis EV will mainly compete with the BYD eMax 7, making it a rare and exciting option for larger families seeking an electric upgrade.

The brand has released an official video regarding the same.

Design

On the outside, the Carens Clavis EV stays true to its petrol-powered sibling’s styling. However, there are some distinctive touches. The front fascia resembles the EV5, featuring a closed-off grille and a charging flap neatly integrated into the nose. A slim upper air inlet sits just above the nameplate, while the fog lamps have been moved lower on the bumper. Unique EV-specific design elements give it a modern edge. The MPV also boasts a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a spacious seven-seat layout.

Interior

Inside, the cabin closely mirrors the ICE version but comes with thoughtful updates. The centre console has been redesigned, swapping the traditional gear lever for a handy storage bin. A dual-screen setup dominates the dashboard, combining a digital driver display and an infotainment touchscreen.

Expect a long list of features, including dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, and a stylish two-spoke steering wheel. While Kia hasn’t revealed every detail yet, advanced safety equipment like Level 2 ADAS, connected car tech, and a full LED lighting package are anticipated.

Battery and Range

Under the floor, the Carens Clavis EV packs a 51.4 kWh battery offering up to 490 km of range. This battery is shared with the Hyundai Creta Electric, hinting that a smaller 42 kWh option could be available later. Power outputs are likely to be in line with the Creta EV as well.
