After years of delays, the long-stuck Ejipura flyover project is back on track, promising signal-free travel across seven major junctions in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru’s infamous Ejipura flyover, which saw little to no progress for almost eight years, is finally moving fast.
The 2.5 km flyover, connecting Ejipura Main Road to Kendriya Sadan Junction, is now 60% complete. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is aiming to finish the project by the end of 2025.
As per TOI, this elevated stretch is expected to ease traffic on the crowded 100-Feet Road in Koramangala and improve the daily commute for thousands of residents.
What Caused the Delays?
The project was first awarded to Simplex Infrastructure in 2017, but it quickly turned into a nightmare of missed deadlines. Even after several time extensions, the company managed to complete only 42.8 percent of the work in five years. The BBMP finally cancelled the contract in March 2022 and seized over Rs 10 crore as a security deposit.
After several failed tender attempts, Hyderabad-based BSCPCL Pvt Ltd stepped in during November 2023, with a 15-month completion deadline.
Construction Now in Full Swing
BBMP officials say that 70 out of the planned 84 pillars are up, and over 300 of the 762 segments are already in place. Work on ramps at the Madiwala-Ejipura side is underway, and a loop towards Sarjapur is also being built.
The flyover will eventually make seven major junctions signal-free, bringing much-needed relief to the Koramangala-Ejipura-Madivala stretch.
Final Hurdles Remain
Land acquisition near St John’s Medical College is still pending. BBMP is in talks with hospital authorities to speed up the handover. Meanwhile, about 30–40 trees are being relocated along the flyover route.
Once complete, this project could finally deliver the decongestion that Koramangala residents have been hoping for over the past decade.
