The largest Bank of Brazil, Itau Unibanco has launched cryptocurrency trading to all its users of its Íon investment platform. While the feature was launched in December, the functionality was only available to selected consumers and was slowly expanded to more users. Users can now buy and sell Bitcoin and Ethereum directly through the Íon app. Itaú Unibanco developed its custody solution for clients’ crypto wallets, ensuring segregated assets for each customer. The bank is considering adding more cryptocurrencies but is waiting for clear regulations from Brazil’s central bank regarding stablecoins.
