Apollo Tyres is new lead sponsor of Indian cricket team

Apollo Tyres has won the mandate to be the lead sponsor of the Indian cricket team with a three-year deal with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the company said, marking its first major sponsorship in the popular sport.

While the financial details of the sponsorship deal was not made public, sources pegged it in the region of around ₹580 crore and much higher than the ₹358 crore deal that previous sponsor Dream11 had with the cricket governing body.

Apollo Tyres did not comment on the financial aspect of the agreement, while there was no response to a message sent to a senior BCCI official on the matter.

The sponsorship deal grants Apollo Tyres the title sponsor rights for all bilateral and ICC home and away matches, including both men’s and women’s teams.

“As part of this landmark collaboration, the Apollo Tyres logo will be prominently featured on the front and leading arm of the official Team India jersey, symbolising a powerful alliance between one of the world’s most beloved sports and a brand ready to go the distance for the national pride,” the tyre company said.

Apollo Tyres steps in with the termination of the deal with gaming company Dream11, whose agreement with BCCI was automatically rendered void, with the government banning all real money gaming platforms and barring any entity from having any dealings with them.

The country’s richest sports body was left without a sponsor for its upcoming fixtures.

“The arrival of Apollo Tyres as our new sponsor is a testament to the hard work and consistent performance of our teams,” said Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary, BCCI, adding, “This is more than a commercial agreement; it’s a partnership between two institutions that have earned the trust and respect of millions.”

The sponsorship deal, that will run till 2027, will be for 21 ICC games and 121 bilateral games.
